...should be utterly excited about the following news. I say should because you really hate to chase someone off with good news despite themselves...

The following guests have been fully confirmed and lined up to appear together in a panel session with Q&A at Comic-Con in San Diego, Friday, July 25, 7:15 p.m.

On the panel will be: Trace Beaulieu, Paul Chaplin, Frank Conniff, Bill Corbett, Joel Hodgson, Jim Mallon, Kevin Murphy, Bridget Nelson, Mike Nelson, Mary Jo Pehl and J. Elvis Weinstein. Wow.

The moderator will be Patton Oswalt.

To explain to the rest of you; that is the ENTIRE group behind Mystery Science Theatre 3000. Including those who 'washed their hands' of the show and said they'd never look back.

If the last three episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" are any indication of episodic writing after a writer's strike...

Can we please organize writers strikes more often.

This and last week's "House" have been some amazingly well written shows.

This is a meme I came across in my history from about 3 years ago.

1. Post a list of ten TV shows or fandoms you follow (current or cancelled).

2. Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show. (comments are screened)

3. When guessed, bold the line and write a sentence about why you like the character.

4. Post in your own LiveJournal.

The list:

1. Doctor Who [livejournal.com profile] chite: Sarah Jane. She was the best companion of the lot.
2. Babylon 5
3. Firefly (two answers)
4. M.A.S.H.[livejournal.com profile] chite: Hawkeye... It just was. There was no one else.
5. Wonderfalls
6. Red Dwarf [livejournal.com profile] bayareajenn: Lister. Cloister the Stupid in the land of Fushell :-D
7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
8. Family Guy [livejournal.com profile] bayareajenn: Brian. The voice of reason who still might sniff your butt.
9. You can't do that on television [livejournal.com profile] bayareajenn: Moose. Great personality. And well, did several episodes barefoot. Was awesome.
And, for the final challenge:
10. Space Academy

Sci-Fi Channel announced today that In April this year they will show Doctor Who Series 4. Thiw will run nearly concurrently with the British airing (I believe)

Sci-Fi has also announced that they will be picking up the Sarah Jane Adventures this year as well.

So ....

(And I don't do this often)

A Bit of Fry & Laurie - Shakespeare Master Class

I've taken this class... Masterfully done by two comic geniuses

I really enjoy "House". Granted.. since watching the show I've begun to dread anything that might be considered a symptom.

Once you get sick on the show, there is an array of diagnosis while we wait for newer symptoms (that personally look impossible).. We know it's never Lupus. And eventually it comes down to something really weird.

It took me a while to even try on "House".... Similar to Doctor Who.. I'm an 'old' fan.

I remember "Fry and Laurie"... I adore the film "Peter's Friends"

And first and foremost...

This... This is the way I remember Hugh Laurie:

#2 is just beautiful for timing:

In football betting early in the week there is a release of odds for the game.

Those odds may change as the week goes on depending on injuries, sudden team changes, etc.

Tonight is debut night. New TV.

We watched the debut of "How I Met Your Mother"
A good episode that rocked in the last two minutes with a simple web site.

Then we figured we'd try "Big Bang Theory"... I'd read a review or two and the reviews sounded like there was promise. This surprised me since it's from the people that brought us "Two and a half men". This is the show that makes us forget that Charlie Sheen at one time could do Funny.

After a few commercials I decided it might make it half a season.

Please note the show started at 8:30 and I'm posting at 8:40. That's right.
6 minutes. After 5 minutes I looked at [livejournal.com profile] shimmeringjemmy and said, "4 episodes and it's gone"

After 6 we were tuned into NBC awaiting Heroes.

Now of course... I'm not a TV executive. I'm an idiot who would have kept "Farscape", "Wonderfalls", and "Firefly"... but then again... what do I know about what Geeks/Nerds are really like. This may yet become the linchpin of CBS's laugh-a-million Mondays.

But I really hope not.

I'm not even going to explain what was wrong with the show.. becuase I'd have to remember too much of it as there was absolutely nothing 'right' with it.

But then again.. I might just be sugar coating my reaction.

I'm not... But I figured.. i should let you give me the benefit of the doubt.

My bet is that BBT is off the "Eye" within 4 weeks.

I like Family Guy... A lot.

But that being said.. the show just went up to another level with their season premier.

A Family Guy retelling of "Star Wars" and they nailed it. And by nailed it, I mean picking on almost every pet peeve that you've had about the film. And probably some you never really noticed.

With so many references (I will never be able to look at hyperspace without laughing ever again).. with more real voices than you'd expect.

This was an amazing episode. I will be getting it on DVD when released.

Doctor Who, Series 2 (er, 28) will come to the US!

Starting with the Christmas Invasion 2 hr special on September 29.

Sci Fi channel has the story and will air it.

This makes up for the news that Stargate SG-1 will end at the end of this season.

It's all about ratings folks. :-b

Arrested Development and Kitchen Confidential have been cancelled.

A while ago, I attended a taping of "That 70's show" - For those who care it was episode - 49, "Red Fired Up"

When you see a show taping, first-off you need to remember that you will be there approximately 6 minutes for every minute of air time (including commercials). Thus a 30 minute program will probably take up 180 minutes, or 3 hours of time.

Further you will see lines that the writers are testing in the script and may change or lose entirely. One such line was the final credit-crawl joke.

The foreign character of Fez has been watching "Hollywood Squares" through the entire episode. At the very end of the episode while the credits are rolling we hear him make a comment aloud to himself. "You know... I think this Paul Lynde may be Gay."

It was completely out of the blue, and I must admit that the audience and myself nearly wet ourselves with hysteria. The line was delivered with such a level of 70's innocence to something that we now reflect upon as obvious beyond measure.

Paul Lynde, the poster child for what we often view as a male homosexual stereotype. Well, we can do that now; but in 1971 at the height of Bewitched, most had no idea.

Thanks to one of today's posts by [livejournal.com profile] theferrett. I am looking forward to reading a new biography on America's 'Center Square'

There is a wonderful interview with the author at Salon.com

Sadly, the producers of "That 70's Show" never let this pearl of humour out in the airing of the episode. But at least a man who's comic delivery was a highlight of the 70's as finally been given some proper honour.

And now for your walk down amnesia lane. A series of lines from 80's comedy, "Night Court"

[Dan breaks down crying the night after his date]
Dan Fielding: Women.
Harry Stone: So, who was it last night? The Soviet gymnast?
Mac Robinson: The farmer's daughter?
Bull Shannon: One of those rubber-jointed ladies from the freak shows that like to be handcuffed and thrown around the room by their ponytails, screaming for mercy until they black out?
[Stares from everyone]
Bull Shannon: What?

Rereading this gave me the uncontrollable giggles. But then again, I remember what the cast looked like. :)

To truly understand Andrei, you have to understand how much 70's pop TV knowledge is crammed in his head.

[livejournal.com profile] shimmeringjemmy walked in the bedroom eating some fruit.

"Peach?" I asked
"Nectarine..." she replied.

I promptly went into a high pitched voice,
"I'll pick the nectarine and throw it down to you"

She looked at me puzzled.

"I suppose there's little use trying to explain the Koozbanian Geefle and Gonk."

I have since attempted to explain.

Gonk: "Let's call it 'cooperation.'"
Geefle: "No... let's call it, 'Shirley.'"

Note: no images are to be found via google at all. Score!

Edit: Fixeed(sic) spellings. I love having a pedantic editor in the house ;)

So, this one was originally posted on April 6th. So, That would put the age on finishing this post at about 71 days. (I can't wait to see how old other dangling posts wind up being)

The post went like this:
1. Post a list of ten TV shows or fandoms you follow (current or cancelled).
2. Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show.
3. When guessed, bold the line and write a sentence about why you like the character.
4. Post in your own LiveJournal.

My List:
1. Doctor Who (Mwa ha ha)
2. Babylon 5
3. Firefly (two answers)
4. M.A.S.H.
5. Wonderfalls
6. Red Dwarf
7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
