lordandrei: (WTF?!?!?)
All of my pictures are on my cell phone which makes it a pain to get them off quickly or conveniently.

I have a tonne of pictures showing the snow.

Until I get this posted, I am permitted to show a picture that [livejournal.com profile] jackal_child took at her place. She lives about 1/2 a mile up the road from me.

You can see her picture on her space at deviantart.com

The picture can be made larger by clicking on it.

I'm not kidding when I say, "After April 15th in Washington. And about an inch and a half of snow."

The Seahawks are in Cleveland.

Today I am a big, BIG Seahawks fan.

Um... go blue?

I have made the trip from home to capitol hill 5 days in the last 8.

This doesn't include: 2 trips to seatac, 1 to pioneer square, 1 to whereeverthehellthewetspotis, 1 downtown trip for a movie and one way the hell out to South Seattle

Tired now!

Well, I looked out the front door and it was there. White stuff. And since I'm not in L.A. anymore, but in fact the Norman Rockwell hamlet of Snohomish; I can be assured of two simple facts.

1. It is not cocaine
2. It is snow

For those that didn't know, I consider myself a Pennsylvanian. I spent 30 years combined in both states of Pennsylvania. 15 years from the age of 1 to 16 in the state of Eastern PA and 15 years from 16 to 31 in the state of Western PA. (Pennsylvania residents will understand this two state mentality. California residents should too)

I moved to San Diego during Thanksgiving 1998. The last snow out my front door that I saw was in fact January of 1998 (It was a warm winter). Now, I've seen snow since then visiting places like the mountains to the north of L.A., Minneapolis, but seeing it outside the door... that is different. That is more 'real' I guess.

I guess in a way it's comforting... which is odd as I listen to the associated song...

I feel good.

(Ironically as I type this the song hits:
And it's beginning,
    And it's beginning to...,
And it's beginning to "Joanne which way to the stage?" snow!!!!

Picture cut to spare the people on modems )

Christmas Bells - Rent (1996 Original Broadway Cast) [Cast Recording] - Original Broadway Cast "Rent"

So, tonight we needed to run into the city to deal with some paperwork with our local Body master for the OTO.

Translation, we went into the city to exchange paperwork and it turned into several hours of good red wine, chat, and hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] babalonyieh and [livejournal.com profile] regulus666. I have also discovered that once I get past the second glass of red wine, the next 6 glasses go much more easily. I discovered this also to the amusement of [livejournal.com profile] shimmeringjemmy. Well amusement and mild annoyance when my penchant for topic related stories became digressions that wouldn't let her speak. So muchly bonding (that's bonding not bondage) with our LB officers. (Also got to see all to briefly [livejournal.com profile] matertiamat) Inits in November are gonna be fuuuuunnnnnn :-D

I have to admit, that I really like [livejournal.com profile] regulus666 and [livejournal.com profile] babalonyieh. (I like [livejournal.com profile] matertiamat too, but didn't get to hang out with her as much.) But the people I did spend the night chatting with... I like them more and more the more time I spend with them.

As you can probably tell from the writing style... still a touch of alcohol in the system. (See we started with this killer sweet desert wine)... I'd say I'm about 70+% to sober now. :-) I had a bottle of water on the ride home along with a muffin. (Blueberry I think). Had two pieces of bread once I got home. We'll see how miserable I feel in the morning :)

With luck next week we'll get to hang with [livejournal.com profile] jonah777 and family.

A good night chatting about all things and all topics tonight. I like it :)

So, I made a post to the local craigslist.

It's all anonymofied to try to get people who are serious but at the same time to prevent spam.

Please feel free to pass this link along:

The fully formatted version of the resume is online at:

(Hey [livejournal.com profile] ph0s this one is slightly newer and reformatted. )

Well, as of about just before 1 this morning, I became a contributing author to a web blog. And this one is completely off of LiveJournal.

My first post is live on Seattle's Metroblog. To those who like their blogs LJ style, it's syndicated at: [livejournal.com profile] seametblog

My first story is located on the site and can be easily found at this link.

Guess, I'll have to work on my writing skills.

The movers are due in about 35 minutes. Well at least the window opens at that point.

Somewhere between 10am and 2pm they should arrive... Then chaos.

I will be posting random picts to buzznet: http://lordandrei.buzznet.com/user

However, there is now a webcam setup in kitchen pointing at the dining room. It will refresh every 10 seconds.

The URL should be:

The image is below the cut. Refresh to see updates.
Here is the current image: )

So, a neat fact. I am in fact typing this on my laptop. I am doing so, because one of our neighbors has open net. Personally, I'm hoping that it is not our net.

It would seem that with a month's warning. Verizon activated and hooked up our Broadband DSL business line. However, just for fun... The hooked it up to the wrong unit.

So... no phone, no lights no motorcar.... Oh wait, that's Gilligan's Island.

Our little Island... it has lights and a car... Matter of fact... we're gonna go find dinner.

More later when I have net.

Waves to all from Washington.

The DNS on the web sites is changed, the directions are printed... It's time for me to take the system down.

Let's see if I can get apolo.net back up within 48 hours :-D

I will make entries on LJ if I can. However, to watch the trip, go to:

This is a photo blog. It has been syndicated to LJ as [livejournal.com profile] andrei_photo but that will only update on LJ once a day I think.

In the words of Stan Lee: Excelsior!

Next stop... well library, but last stop in 48 hrs.... The Pacific North West! Wheeee!

Movers arrived. As usual there was confusion between what I thought we'd told them we'd have packed vs. what they believed they'd need to pack. *sigh* Never can go without a hitch, eh?

House is 20% emptied
lordandrei: (Default)
So, shortly we should have professional movers descend upon us.

Here's our schedule:
Thursday (today): Movers, Panic, then a quiet evening with new friend [livejournal.com profile] mmorena
Friday: Dentist, house cleaning, carpet steaming, Pack car.Take recyclables and old equipment away, Dinner with old friends, Change DNS on all servers, Computers down and pack into car.
Saturday: Drive to Washington. (We're living about 20-40 min NE of Seattle)
Sunday: Morning- Fall into house. DirecTV. Computers Up

Ah yes, Directv here was a snafu. They will come out Sunday and place a new dish on the house for us. We leave the old one in L.A. Of course, I didn't think about this and scheduled it the day we arrive. The TV won't in fact make it for up to 2 weeks. I can't reschedule at this point due to the time proximity. sheesh

Monday: New Insurance (auto/rental), Register car. Pick up WA Driving Guide.
Call movers, find out when delivery is.

So, the plan with the computers is the neat part. I have full time servers for about 4 different organizations including my own company. The DSL and IP addresses are theoretically up and running at the new site. If my plan works. I will change the DNS routing on Friday night. Drive Saturday, and by the time I arrive in Seattle, I should just plug them in, change the IPs and the machines should just be back up.

Yeah... In theory, theory and practice are the same...
lordandrei: (Default)
So,it's now noon. The movers were due here at noon or as early as 10am.

[livejournal.com profile] shimmeringjemmy has just gone running for food. I think we're as ready as we're going to be for the movers. I am just hoping that everything we plan to take in the vehicle will fit in the vehicle.

Little woozy, but that mey be just the 3.5 hrs of sleep and lack of food.

Server down time so far: 5 minutes for software update.
lordandrei: (Default)
I should try to sleep, eh?
lordandrei: (Default)
Office and den are almost at the point where I can point and walk away from them. I've got about another 3-4 hrs of organization.

Tomorrow...err today.. Arrowhead comes and claims the water cooler. They don't deliver to Washington state. So, I'd have to pay $250 for the cooler. Not worth it. $9.95/month was fine, but if I'm going to buy one, it'll be through a vendor.

Next week I'll talk about our really fun surprise that I got on Friday of last week. Don't worry, we'll be legal (for the most part) ;)

The list for tomorrow... err today keeps getting longer.

Sp, poker and packing anyone. Wednesday evening?
lordandrei: (Default)
Just looked at the ol' calendar on the wall. Many people have been asking, "Oh, are you in Seattle now? When do you go? etc..."

So, thanks from a post from [livejournal.com profile] kebechet I found Ticker factory

I wish they'd let you use your own graphics rather than pick from a rather 'insipid' collection.. but there we have it.
lordandrei: (Default)
It would seem that the work I've been doing on my repairing my credit over the past few years is coming to full fruition. The application we put in for the new residence in Washington was approved.

We officially have a place to move to. Address is forthcoming later. But... damn.. this is cool.
lordandrei: (Default)
So, we leave at about Oh-whydidIplanAFlightAtThisTime, tomorrow morning. I'm hoping to once again post with some regularity.

I have already scheduled 5 rental walk thrus, 3 tomorrow.

Busy Busy Busy.
lordandrei: (Default)
Hang on to your hats. This one is big.

At 11:00 am I tendered my resignation from Earthlink. I am still solidly in the IT industry developing software, I am just not going to go into details about the employer.

I will be working out of my own home office full time and setting my own hours.

As a result... [livejournal.com profile] shimmeringjemmy and I have come to a decision.

At the end of June 2005 we are leaving Los Angeles. And our friends and loved ones in the city and local OTO. We will be moving to Seattle, Washington.

Fuller details forthcoming. But that should hold you for now. Commenting is open.
